Our story

Made in Nepal, built for the world

Why Yachu

Out there, you feel the weight of everything you carry.

That's me in Manang in 2019, above 3,500 m. On that ride, like on most of my trips, my gear weighed more than it needed to. My back felt every gram.

I always wanted to build something in my own country, so I stayed to chase the Nepali dream.

In 2023, I started Yachu to make outdoor gear that's light, simple and made well, here in Nepal.

Yachu (याचु) is my grandmother's name. In Newari, it means clear and pure.

Our mission: help people get out there more, slow down, worry less and leave no trace.

Our vision: make quality outdoor gear in Nepal, earn people's trust, and take it to the world.

We're just getting started, and we're grateful to everyone around the world who supports us. Still learning, still building, one piece at a time.

MAKALU BARUN REGION2024

A small team from Nepal.

We grew up with these mountains, lakes and rivers, and they still shape how we design.

Everything we sew is tested on those same trails.

How we make it

We don't outsource this. We design everything we sew and make it with our own team in Nepal, from the first cut to the last stitch. That's how we know every piece inside out.

Our factory is led by Monika Shrestha, my sister. She's our Head of Production. She trains local women from scratch, turning them into skilled workers.

I design everything myself and hand it over to my sister. Together we build, test different ideas, and prototype before anything launches.

Sometimes it takes years to build a quality product. We're very early in our journey. That's why we're not rushing to launch many at once. Instead, we focus on getting one right at a time.
